KMC Magazine
This design was selected by the editor through a competitive process for KMC Magazine (Kootenay Mountain Culture). The piece accompanies an editorial story focused on the experience of knee surgery—a subject that sits at the intersection of vulnerability, recovery, and mountain life. The visual approach is intentionally restrained, using minimal composition and negative space to mirror the physical and emotional tension surrounding injury and surgical intervention. The elongated forms and quiet layout invite the reader to slow down and reflect on the body’s fragility, particularly within a culture that values physical endurance and movement. By treating a medical experience with the same seriousness as an outdoor narrative, this work acknowledges how injury and healing become integral chapters in the lives of those who live and play in the mountains.
